The Business bachelor’s degree programme (delivered in partnership with Plymouth Marjon University) provides students with a comprehensive education in various aspects of business management, including financial management, human resources, operations, and strategic planning. The course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), recognising the quality of our programme and highlighting its relevance to the modern business world.
The Foundation Year of the BSc (Hons) Business course is specifically designed to provide a solid grounding in the essential skills and knowledge required for success in higher education and beyond. This year serves as an introduction to the core principles of business, enhancing students’ understanding of key concepts in enterprise, accounting, and marketing. Through a combination of foundational modules and supportive tutorials, the Foundation Year aims to build students’ confidence, academic skills, and familiarity with studying at a higher education level. This preparatory year ensures that all students, regardless of their previous academic background, are well-equipped to embark on the full BSc (Hons) Business degree with a strong foundation.

Throughout the course, students will develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge, which they will apply in a range of business settings, with a particular focus on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Students will also gain a strong understanding of ethical and sustainable business practices, enabling them to make informed and responsible decisions in their future roles. Upon completion of the programme, our graduates will be well-prepared to enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge required to excel in a range of business settings.
Through coursework and practical assignments, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that SMEs face in the current business environment. Our students will learn how to create effective business plans, manage financial resources, and develop strategies for growth and expansion. They will also gain hands-on experience through practical learning opportunities, preparing them for the demands of a dynamic and fast-paced business environment. The degree is also accredited by the CMI, and students will gain the CMI’s Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership alongside the degree, at no extra cost and with no additional assessments required. Accreditation from the CMI is recognised globally and signifies that a programme meets the highest standards of excellence in business education.

LAAT offers this programme as part of a franchise partnership with Plymouth Marjon University (PMU). Students are expected to fulfil all the admission requirements prescribed by PMU, and admissions are subject to final approval by PMU. Students are expected to adhere to the relevant rules and regulations of PMU, in addition to the regulations of LAAT.
